DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Coe College women's basketball team shot just 1-of-16 from 3 on Wednesday evening in an A-R-C road loss at Dubuque, falling 60-51 to the Spartans. The Kohawks fell behind early in the contest, spotting the hosts a 12-9 lead after 10 minutes. Dubuque slowly extended the lead before the final quarter, taking a 46-41 advantage into the final period. The Spartans fended off a late charge from the Kohawks in the fourth quarter, protecting a six-point lead for the final 2:20 en route to the victory.
Audrie Helmrichs had a team-high 13 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor.
Ellie Wisner and
Taylor Brunson rounded out the double-digit scorers for Coe, scoring 11 points each while
Caydee Kirkham finished with seven.

- Dubuque took an early lead, ripping off eight unanswered points as Coe missed its first four shots of the game. The Kohawks slowly got back into the game, outscoring the hosts 9-4 before the end of the quarter to pull within three. Coe made it a two-point game to start the second quarter but Dubuque regained momentum, using a 7-0 scoring run to push the lead back to nine at 22-13. The Kohawks put together the next run of the game, scoring 11 of the final 16 points to make it a one possession game at 27-24. The third quarter featured back-and-forth action throughout with the teams trading blows. Coe made it a two-point game at 41-39 with 1:38 left in the period but UD scored five of the final seven points to reestablish a 46-41 lead before the final quarter. Dubuque hung on in the final period, answering every Kohawk spurt with a clutch basket. The Spartans limited the Kohawks to just two points over the final 2-plus minutes of action, seeing out the win with some clutch trips to the free throw line.
