CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's basketball team picked up its second straight victory to cap off a three-game homestand Wednesday evening at Kohawk Arena, defeating the visiting Loras College Duhawks 72-54. Sophomore guard
Taylor Brunson continued her torrid scoring pace, scoring 30-plus points for the second consecutive game and fifth time this season. Brunson powered the Kohawk victory from the opening quarter, helping the hosts establish a 30-24 lead at the half with 17 points in the opening quarters. She continued to fire in the second half, pouring in nine points in the final quarter to help seal the victory. Coe, which improves to 7-3 in A-R-C action, had three players reach double figures with Brunson's 32 leading the way.
Ellie Wisner and
Audrie Helmrichs also crossed the double-digit mark, scoring 13 and 12 respectively.

GAME FACTS
- Coe got a solid start in the game, hitting three of its first four shots to take a 7-4 lead. Loras dominated the closing stretch of the quarter, ripping off a 14-3 run to end the period. The Duhawks held Coe to 1-of-8 shooting during the run and forced four Kohawk turnovers. Coe trailed 18-10 to start the second quarter but quickly came to life, using a 12-4 run in the first five-plus minutes to level the score at 22. Brunson drove the run, scoring seven points including a game-tying 3 with 4:23 left in the half. Loras put a pause on the run with a bucket to regain the lead momentarily but Coe pulled ahead before the halftime buzzer, getting eight unanswered points from Brunson who gave the hosts a 30-24 lead after two. Loras scored the first two buckets after the break, cutting the lead to two but Coe scored six in a row to regain momentum. The following phase was back-and-forth with the teams trading blows. Loras pulled within four of the lead again with a small run but the Kohawks controlled the final three minutes of the quarter, outscoring the visitors 9-4 to stretch the advantage. Coe led 51-42 at the start of the fourth and quickly put the game away, scoring nine of the first 13 points to push the lead to 14. Brunson and Wisner put the final icing on the cake before heading to the bench, hitting back-to-back buckets and sealing 3 with under four to play.
