CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's basketball team picked up its second straight victory on Wednesday evening, defeating the Luther College Norse 65-53. The Kohawks started well, scoring seven of the first nine points in the game but the Norse kept it close over the remaining half, trailing 29-25 after 20 minutes. The hosts clicked into gear in the latter stages of the second half, ending the game on a 16-5 run in the final six minutes to put the game to bed.
Bennett Sherry scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Cooper Nailor was the final Kohawk in double-figures, scoring 10 points while four others scored at least five.

- The Kohawks scored seven unanswered points after Luther's game-opening bucket, quickly taking a 7-2 lead at the 15:45 mark. Luther answered with a quick run of its own, flipping the score in its favor at 12-9. The teams went back-and-forth over the next few possessions but Coe managed to regain a narrow lead before the four-minute mark. Sherry and the Kohawks pushed the lead to four before the end of the period, scoring the final three points of the half to make it 29-25. Luther made it a tie game again midway through the half, getting a jumper to make it 43-43 with 10:17 to play. Coe slowly began to regain control, extending the lead to five with back-to-back buckets from Jackson Bowman and Cole Hrubes. Sherry and Nailor helped seal the deal in the closing stretch, combining for 11 points in the final 4:28 to give their team the victory.
