MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Coe College women's basketball team won its fourth straight game to start the 2025-26 season Saturday afternoon at Monmouth, easing past the Fighting Scots 81-37. The Kohawks were in control from the opening tip, outscoring Monmouth in all four quarters including a dominant 26-11 third quarter that put the game out of reach.
Caydee Kirkham scored a team-high 26 points, leading a group of four Kohawks in double-figures.
Audrie Helmrichs recorded her second straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while
Taryn Kravig and
Quinn Grubbs had 10 points each. In total, Coe shot 56.1 percent from the floor while holding the Fighting Scots to just 23.1 shooting and 15.8 percent from deep.

- The Kohawks and Fighting Scots traded buckets in the early moments of the first quarter, with Coe holding a 10-8 lead near the midway mark. The Kohawks slowly built the advantage in the final stretch of the first, scoring 11 of the final 15 points to grab a 21-12 lead after one. An old-fashioned 3-point play for Kirkham made the lead 10 in the second quarter, setting the stage for Coe to push it further before the break. Three straight buckets, two from Kirkham and one from Helmrichs made it 16 at the break as the Kohawks were in control 34-18. Kravig, Kirkham & Helmrichs kept it going in the third, combining to push the lead to 26 less than four minutes in as the offense continued to click. The onslaught continued for the remainder of the period, getting the lead to 33 with 4:27 before Monmouth made it a 31-point difference heading into the final quarter. Coe slowed the tempo but didn't stop the offensive attack, pushing the lead to 46 points in the final minute before a last-second bucket from the hosts ended the scoring.
