CLERMONT, Fl. – The Coe College softball team picked up its first win of the season Monday morning, defeating Augsburg University 14-0 before dropping its second contest of the day 8-1 to Ramapo. The Kohawks dominated the opening game, pounding out 12 hits and putting together a pair of six-inning runs in the second and third frames. Coe took the lead in the first inning on a double from
Hadyn Shoots and later exploded for back-to-back six-run innings.
Natalie Hitt tossed a three-hit shutout in the circle, recording six strikeouts to back her offense's display. Ramapo snagged an early lead in game two and never looked back, scoring three runs in the first inning with a pair of RBI hits. The Kohawks scored their lone run in the fifth on an RBI triple from Shoots but the Roadrunners scored two more in the top of the sixth to restore a lead large enough to secure the win.

- Coe started the offensive onslaught in the first with an RBI hit from Shoots and a run-scoring error from the Augies. The Kohawks broke it open in the second inning, sending 10 hitters to the plate while tacking on six runs. Jessica Meisinger started the scoring with an RBI single and was later followed by Maddie Harris who drove home two with a single to center. Marisa Vodicka delivered a hammer blow in the next at-bat, driving a three-run homer to center to make it 8-0. Coe added six more in the third inning with four hits and two Augie errors. Meisinger and Addie Menke delivering back-to-back singles and were later copied by Harris and Vodicka who combined to make it 12-0. Haley Sanders and Meisinger got the final RBI of the inning and game, recording a sacrifice fly and bases-loaded walk to make it 14-0. Hitt had more than enough room to work with, retiring seven consecutive hitters from the third inning through the fifth before surrendering a two-out single.
RAMAPO 8 - COE 1

- Ramapo took a 1-0 lead three batters in, getting a leadoff single and a one-out single after a stolen base. The Roadrunners broke it open two batters later, using a two-run double to make it 3-0. Ramapo added an insurance run in the third with one out, using small ball and a sacrifice fly for 4-0. The Roadrunners made it 6-0 later in the fifth inning, getting a bases-loaded groundout and a one-run single. Shoots helped get Coe on the board in the fifth, driving home Menke with a triple to left as Menke drew a two-out walk. The Roadrunners put the game to bed in the top of the sixth, scoring two more runs on back-to-back RBI doubles.
