ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Coe College bowling programs turned in a historic effort at last weekend's Collegiate Club National Championships as the women's program brought home the team's first-ever National Title while the men posted a strong seventh-place finish. The Kohawk women made headlines with an impressive run to the national title, finishing first in the qualifying standings with a total of 3677 pins, earning a top seed in the bracket play. The ladies went on to defeat Illinois State and San Jose State after an opening round bye and followed up with back-to-back victories over Purdue in the semifinal and championship matchup. Coe swept the championship match three games to none and dominated the final game with a score of 213-163 to cap off the epic performance.
Whittney Morse was named the Collegiate Club Player of the Year following the tournament while
Lauren Bodman and
Katrina Kendle joined her as All-American honorees. Head Coach
Randy Dodge also picked up major honors for the Coe program, being named the Coach of the Year. The Kohawk men put together a strong weekend as well, taking seventh after not placing in the 2024 tournament. Coe finished ninth in qualifying but dropped the opening match of bracket play to UW-Milwaukee. The Kohawks then defeated Wartburg, Ohio State, and Nebraska in rounds three, four and five before falling to Marian in the Contenders Bracket quarterfinals.
