CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College tennis players Sophia Fain and Luke Doig swept the American Rivers Conference weekly tennis honors announced Monday, being named the Female and Male Tennis Players of the Week. The Kohawk duo helped their teams to wins last week with the women defeating Cornell 6-1 and the men taking care of Central and Simpson. Fain capped off her conference MVP-winning sophomore season with a pair of wins against the Rams on Friday, winning matches at number two doubles and number one singles. She paired with Alice Tysoe for a 6-1 win in the doubles competition and followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at number singles to improve to 16-5 for the season. Doig was a part of the Kohawk men's 2-0 record, playing in Saturday's match against the Storm as Coe's top doubles and singles player. In doubles, Doig and Alex Palomar grabbed a 6-3 victory before the sophomore from Australia earned a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the top singles position.
