Softball drops midweek doubleheader at Loras

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College softball team dropped a midweek doubleheader at Loras College Tuesday afternoon, falling 3-0 in game one and 8-7 in game two to the Duhawks. Loras kept Coe off the board in the opening game, taking a lead with a solo homer in the second inning and never relinquishing it. Coe matched Loras' hit total with six but left five runners on including three in the top of the sixth. The second game featured a roaring comeback from Coe, which trailed 6-1 in the top of the sixth but the visitors scored six runs to take the lead. Marisa Vodicka started the rally with a three-run homer before RBI from Hadyn Shoots and Addie Menke made it 7-6. Loras got the final say in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs before a game-winning single to right.
