Brady Kelly and
Lia Maxwell swept the American Rivers Conference's major weekly awards, being named the Male & Female Athletes of the Week. Kelly, a junior on the football team, and Maxwell a sophomore on the golf team, were joined in the weekly honor release by freshman tennis player
Aisha Gurung who was named the league's Women's Tennis Performer of the Week. Kelly, a junior from Boca Raton, is earning his first career Male Athlete of the Week honor and his second straight offensive player of the week honor. The Kohawk signal caller turned in a record-setting afternoon in a tough loss at No. 13 UW-River Falls, totaling a school-record 627 yards of offense as he passed for 519 yards and rushed for 108. His 519 yards were also a single-game school record while tying the single-game passing touchdown record with six. Maxwell, a sophomore women's golfer, picked up her first collegiate victory as she led the team to the overall title at Monmouth's Fighting Scot Invite. Maxwell totaled five birdies across her 36-holes and set a new scoring record with a two-day total of 151. Gurung, a freshman from Nepal, was 2-0 for the Kohawk women in a victory over Central. She opened the day with a 7-0 victory with her partner
Addison Leasure at the top doubles spot and followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number three singles, wrapping up the unblemished day.
