CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's soccer team opened its American Rivers Conference schedule Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, falling 3-1 to the visiting Simpson College Storm. Coe saw Simpson take the lead early in the first half, using a few passes to open up the opportunity to score. The Kohawks grew into the game, controlling much of the possession and the chances for the remainder of the first half. Coe finally capitalized on the chances in the second half as an early corner kick from
Magdalynne Preuss found
Mac Adams who headed past the keeper. Coe built upon the goal and pushed the pace in the next 15 minutes but Simpson regained the lead with a quick-striking chance, hitting Coe with a long ball for 2-1. The Storm made it 3-1 minutes later, scoring from distance with a strike into the top corner that had no chance to be saved. The hosts kept fighting despite the score line, creating a few chances in the final minutes but Simpson locked down the backline to pull out the win.
