CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Coe College Track & Field coaches Mat Littleton and Krista Littleton announced the hiring of Drake Woody Wednesday afternoon as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs. A two-time Big Ten point scorer and regional qualifier at Iowa, Woody brings a wealth of competitive experience to the Kohawk program. Woody, who earned his bachelors in recreation management with an emphasis in coaching, has been working with top tier high school track and field athletes across the state for six years including numerous state champions across different events. 
 
"I'm super excited for the opportunity to coach here at Coe College." said Woody. "I can't thank both Coach Littletons enough for believing in what I will bring to the table! I'm eager to join a really special program and can't wait to make a very positive impact on the team!"

Coach Woody not only has a great background as a track & field athlete at the University of Iowa, but also spent his entire life growing up around high level athletes and coaches, which put him in a position to learn from some of the best people in our sport. His background as an athlete who excelled in multiple event areas makes him extremely versatile as a coach. With the emphasis we place on the overall team component of our sport, we have always tried to prioritize hiring assistant coaches who have been part of championship programs, and having been on two Big Ten Championship teams, Drake knows first-hand what team success looks like and how to achieve it."

One of the many things that stood out to us during the interview process was Drake's desire to contribute in multiple event areas and help the overall program in any way he can.  It was obvious that the success of the entire team is important to him."
