DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Coe College women's basketball team won its fifth straight game Wednesday evening, taking down the University of Dubuque Spartans 80-49. It was a milestone night in addition to the victory as senior Caydee Kirkham broke the career scoring mark as she totaled 22 points to eclipse the previous mark of 1,616 held by Aleena Hobbs. The senior from Carthage started from the jump, scoring nine first-quarter points to help Coe race out to a 20-12 advantage. The Kohawks dominated the second quarter and put the game away, scoring 19 of 23 points in the period to push their advantage to 39-16 at the break. Coe and its starters put the final touches on the game in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 23-13 to extend the lead past 30 points. The Kohawks saw out the remainder of the game in the fourth, turning to its secondary unit to get over the line. Kirkham, who added five rebounds and five assists, was 8-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-5 from deep, displaying her efficiency in the record-breaking night.
