WAVERLY, Iowa – The Coe College Men's Golf team opened its spring season at the Wartburg Spring Invite over the weekend with two teams in action. Coe's top team placed 11th with a total of 625 strokes, closely followed by the second team that finished 12th with a total of 628 strokes.
Tyler Santi was Coe's top individual finisher as the freshman fired rounds of 78 and 73 to place T20 and was just four shots outside the top 10. Santi made two birdies during his opening round and followed with a near-flawless second round, making just one bogey en route to the one-over 73.
Lane Pierson and
C. Reece Breitenbach led Coe's second team and were tied as the second-best finishers for the Koahwks, placing T33 with two-round totals of 154. Pierson opened with a 79 and followed with a three-over 75, making a pair of birdies on his back nine to finish strongly. Breitenbach opened well, firing a two-over 74 in the first round but fell back down the leaderboard on Sunday with an eight-over round of 80.
