CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe women's soccer renewed the annual Bremner Derby against the Cornell Rams on Wednesday night, defeating the visitors 5-1 to keep Coe unbeaten in the 2026-27 Bremner Cup series. The Kohawks scored twice in the opening 13 minutes, getting the first goal from
Magdalynne Preuss and the second from
Dessa Snyder. Cornell pulled one back with a goal in the 16th and kept the score there until the break. Preuss tallied again in the second half, restoring Coe's two-goal lead in the 62nd minute, this time picking up a pass that snuck through two defenders before beating the keeper.
Philine Giese made it 4-1 with a long-distance effort in the 79th, shooting from 35 yards out and getting it over the outstretched arm of the keeper.
Sarenna Hurtig capped off the party in the 86th minute, taking a pass from
Katie Lindsay into the box before scoring with a lofted effort into the side netting.

COE 5 - CORNELL 1
- Coe started the scoring early as Preuss fired in a long shot from the right wing, beating the keeper and finding the side net. Snyder made it 2-0 moments later, cashing in from a similar position, but this time smashing a free kick into the upper right-hand corner to beat the keeper. Cornell's lone goal came from a set-piece chance as a near save from Cecillie Monroe barely crept over the line to make it 2-1. Preuss helped Coe get comfortable once again in the second half, picking up a pass from Hurtig just outside the six-yard box before firing a right-footed strike into the corner. Giese's goal came from nothing as the senior defender collected a loose ball, dribbled a few paces, and then unleashed a strike that sailed over the keeper and into the goal. Hurtig finished off the scoring in the 86th minute as Lindsay slotted a pass down the left wing that Hurtig finessed past the keeper for 5-1.
