CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville at Kohawk Arena on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers started the opening on top, hitting .360 with 13 kills and just four errors as UWP took the first 25-18. Platteville was on fire again in set two, committing just two errors in the set en route to a 25-16 victory. Coe fought back in set three and led midway through the period, but a nine-point stretch for the Pioneers ended any comeback chance for the Kohawks.
Jasmine Shields was the catalyst for Coe's offense in the match, registering 15 kills with an attack percentage of .361. Defensively,
Tessa Casebolt led the way with 12 digs while
Najolie Price had one solo block and one assist.

- Platteville controlled the opening set after early back-and-forth, scoring five straight points to take an 11-9 lead. Coe slowed the run after a timeout, but three consecutive made it 14-10 for the Pioneers. The Kohawks battled back with an 8-5 run over the next few points, pulling within one at 19-18. UWP finished off the opener with a six-point run, taking the first set for the early lead. The first few points of set two were back-and-forth, with Coe trailing 10-8 after consecutive points. The Pioneers pulled away during the next string, using a 7-3 run to go up 17-11. A kill from Abi Bowe put a pause on the run, but UWP scored seven straight points, which was enough to keep Coe away. The Kohawks led 13-10 in set three, forcing a timeout from the Pioneers after a strong swing in the set. The visitors ripped off nine straight points after the pause, using the run to take a 19-13 lead. Coe fought back to make it 21-18 late in the set but four of the final five points for Platteville ended the match.
