CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Game two for the Kohawks would mirror the first match in the Mable Lee Invite, as the St. Olaf Oles would take all three sets from the Kohawks. The Oles would finish with a .333 hitting percentage to Coe's .126 percentage. Coe worked hard to try and match the firepower from the Oles, but in the end, St. Olaf would walk away with the win. The kills were spread out between quite a few Kohawks including
Najolie Price,
Jasmine Shields, Tessa Casebolt, and
Morgan Beam.
Abby Distad was a huge part of these kills, as she led the team with 18 assists in this match.
GAME FACTS:
ST. OLAF 3 - COE 0
- Coe kept the first set close and was able to grab the lead from St. Olaf, 8-5, with kills from Casebolt, Mahri Kaczmarek, and Beam. The Kohawk lead would stay steady through the middle of the first set and even towards the end of the set. It was only when the point had leveled at 22-22 that the Oles were able to grab the lead back from Coe and find a way to win the first set 25-23.
- The second set once again saw the Kohawks grab the early lead and would look to try and take the second set for themselves. The Oles wouldn't let the Kohawk lead last as long, as the set would be tied at 8-8 and the Oles would not look back. Coe was only able to score seven more points as St. Olaf would run away with the second set, 25-15.
- The final set would see the Kohawk show a lot of fight to try and push the match to a fourth set. The early lead would not be controlled by either team for long. The lead changed four times between the two teams in the first half of the set. As the Oles started to pull away with a 14-9 lead, the Kohawks would call a timeout to try to get the momentum back. The set looked to run away from Coe again as the score was 19-12, but Coe wouldn't go easily. Forcing errors and getting key kills from Casebolt, Beam, and Price brought the set to 23-20. The momentum would end there as St. Olaf would take the final set 25-22 and would end the match in three sets.
