Box Score WAVERLY, Iowa - The Coe College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Wartburg on Tuesday evening. The Knights took an early 2-0 advantage and handled the Kohawks in the third and final set of the match. The result drops Coe to 1-1 overall and in the conference as Wartburg improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the A-R-C.
Despite the loss,
Kate Tidman recorded eight kills and four digs as
Elli Teeple posted 27 assists in the game. Overall, Wartburg hit .404 percent while recording 15 total blocks as Coe hit only .051 percent and recorded 24 attacking errors.
Wartburg was on fire to open the contest, hitting .423 percent while only committing one error in the set. The Kohawks hit only .152 in the set and committed four service errors to let the Knights take control of the opener. Wartburg stayed hot in set two, taking an early 8-2 lead to extend the momentum.
Following a kill from Coe's
Grace Lueken, the Knights ripped off six-straight points and put the set out of reach for the Kohawks. The torrid night continued for Wartburg in the final set, as it outscored Coe 12-4 early to put the set and the match out of reach.
Up next: The Kohawks are back in action on Saturday, February 27 when they travel to Storm Lake for an A-R-C matchup with Buena Vista at 2:00 p.m.
