Volleyball Sweeps Loras, Improves to 2-0 in A-R-C Action

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep over Loras College on Wednesday evening, improving its A-R-C record to 2-0. The Kohawks dominated the match from the jump, claiming the victory over Loras 25-20, 25-15 and 25-15. As a team, Coe racked up 37 kills to just 22 for Loras. The defense was solid for the Kohawks, posting six total blocks and 67 digs as a squad. Kate Tidman was the leading Kohawk attacker, registering 10 kills and eight digs, finishing two shy of the double-double. The victory, which is Coe's third-straight, improves it to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the league while Loras drops to 3-9 on the year and 0-2 in the league.

  • The Kohawks got off to a solid start in the first set, claiming a 25-20 victory to jump ahead. The match went back-and-forth to start but Loras grabbed a three-point lead at 10-7, forcing Coe into a timeout. The Kohawks battled back and tied the game at 13 but again the Duhawks hung tough and regained the lead at 15-13. Coe closed the match on top, scoring 12 of the final 17 points including a five-point serving stretch from Ella Koloc
  • Coe was more efficient on offense in the second set, attacking at a .214 rate en route to a 25-15 victory. The visitors raced out to a 13-5 advantage early in the period, getting the hosts to call a timeout. The Kohawks maintained their lead for the remainder of the set, getting a dominant serving stretch from Grace Lueken as she helped Coe grab a 2-0 lead. 
  • The final set was messy, with both teams hitting below .100. Coe battled out the struggles and secured a 25-15 victory to clinch the match. The Kohawks and Duhawks committed seven errors in the period but four service aces from the visitors pushed them over the line. 
Up next: Coe is back in action this weekend for a trio of non-conference matches against UW-Stout, Concordia (Minn.) and Gustavus at the Wartburg College Invitational.
