WAVERLY, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College volleyball team extended its winning streak to four games on Friday evening, downing UW-Stout 3-2. The Kohawks grabbed an early lead with a 25-22 set-one victory but the Blue Devils stormed back with two straight sets, earning a 25-20 and 33-31 decision to take a 2-1 lead. Coe battled back and dominated the final two sets, holding Stout to just 14 and eight points in the final two frames.

Grace Lueken and
Madi Parson all eclipsed the double-figure kill mark for Coe, with Tidman's 15 leading the team. Lueken was dominant on the defensive end for the Kohawks, finishing with six block assists and one solo stop. As a team, Coe had 16 total blocks, a new season best. Freshman setter and reigning A-R-C offensive player of the week,
Maddy Maahs, had 46 assists and six kills while running the offense. The win moves the Kohawks to 11-3 overall while UW-Stout drops to 8-8.

- Coe fell behind quickly in the opener, seeing Stout grab a 6-1 lead before a timeout. Coe battled back and got within four but the Blue Devlis maintained a lead and stretched it to eight at 14-6. The Kohawks got in gear after another timeout, ripping off a big stretch where they outscored the opposition 9-4. Stout called timeout to stop the bleeding but Coe's momentum proved too much as it ripped off a dominant 10-4 run to claim an opening lead.
- The Blue Devils answered in the second, taking advantage of five Kohawk attacking errors and five service aces. Stout and Coe battled back-and-forth early on but a late run from the opponent tied the match at one.
- Set three was a marathon, with UW-Stout claiming a 33-31 victory to jump ahead. The Kohawks had 15 kills in the period but the Blue Devils hit .228 as a team and recorded 19 kills to just six errors.
- Coe immediately jumped ahead in the fourth, grabbing a 7-0 lead after a serving stretch from Maahs. Her run continued after a timeout, extending the lead to 9-0 which was plenty for the Kohawks who cruised to a 25-14 victory to tie the match.
- The Kohawks stayed hot in the decider, grabbing a 6-1 lead in the set to force a timeout from Stout. Coe continued to trade points with the opponent for a small stretch but Stout cut the lead to three and forced a timeout from Coe at 10-7. Coe dominated the end of the match, scoring five of the final six points to improve to outlast Stout.
Up next: Coe concludes the Wartburg Invitational with a pair of non-conference matches against Concordia (Minn.) and Gustavus at 12 PM and 2 PM.
