DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team suffered its second A-R-C defeat of the 2023 season on Wednesday evening at Dubuque, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Spartans. The Kohawks began the match well, controlling the opening set for a 25-16 victory in the first period. UD stormed back and dominated the remainder of the match, hitting over .300 in the final two sets to pull off the comeback victory. The Spartans, who are undefeated in conference play, committed just 13 attacking errors and were led by a trio of double-digit kill performers.

- The Kohawks had a solid start in the opener, building a quick 6-2 lead before UD settled in. Coe later ripped off a five-point stretch to hold a 12-5, a big enough advantage to steal the first set. The Kohawks again led early in set two, scoring 12 of the opening 17 points in the period to take control. UD fired back with seven of eight points, pulling within one at 13-12. The Spartans completed the comeback win in the set late in the frame, scoring the final eight points to claim a 25-22 victory. UD erased another early deficit in the third, bouncing back from a 4-0 hole with six consecutive. The hosts ripped off another big run later in the period, scoring five-straight to make it 18-14, a lead UD held for the remainder of the set. Dubuque secured the victory in the fourth set with its best offensive performance, hitting .389 in the period with 16 kills and just two errors.
Up next: Coe is back in action next week, traveling to UW-Platteville on Tuesday, October 17 for a non-conference match at 7 PM.
