CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon at Kohawk Arena, sweeping Grinnell College 3-0 before dropping a 3-0 decision to UW-Eau Claire. Coe started the day with an impressive sweep of Grinnell, taking care of business with a solid .225 hitting percentage while adding four aces. UW-Eau Claire reversed the script in the second match of the day, hitting .378 en route to a dominant 3-0 victory which saw the Bluegolds take the final set 25-15.

GAME FACTS
- The Pioneers out hit Coe in the first set, posting a .278 attacking percentage. Despite Grinnell's solid start, the hosts erased a one-point lead later in the frame and ripped off five-straight points to claim the opener. The Kohawks started well in set two, building an early 7-1 lead. Grinnell fought back and got within two points but Coe then scored five-straight to regain a seven-point advantage. The Kohawks stayed hot for the remainder of the set, hitting .333 in total as they took the second 25-11. Grinnell pushed Coe to the brink in the decisive third period, forcing extra points after coming back late in the frame. The Kohawks hung on and completed the sweep despite Grinnell's effort, scoring the final two points of the set for a 26-24 victory.
UW-EAU CLAIRE 3 - COE 0
GAME FACTS
- The Bluegolds started the match hot, registering 16 kills and just two errors in the opening set as the visitors claimed the period 25-21. Coe battled back in the second set and led 17-15 late in the frame but UWEC scored the final four points on its way to a 25-22 win in the second. The Bluegolds completed the sweep in the third set with another strong offensive performance, hitting .393 with 14 kills as they secured a 25-15 victory.
