Brandon Kostelny headed home a floated ball from a corner kick.
Isaiah Jakel doubled the lead with the eventual game-winning goal in the 69th minute, firing a low-driven shot past the keeper for a 2-0 lead. The Spartans pulled one back minute later, halving the deficit in the 73rd minute but Coe managed to see out the remainder of the game with solid defense and ball retention.

- Coe controlled much of the tempo early in the contest, creating many of the chances in the opening 20 minutes. Kostelny put the Kohawks on top moments during the strong period of play, nodding home a perfectly placed cross from Ian Kearney for a 1-0 lead. Coe pressed for the second goal early in the second period, firing numerous shots on target that UD kept out. Jakel found the back of the net in 69th minute with a key insurance goal, padding the lead with a strong strike from just inside the box. Mateo McLean helped make the goal, controlling a loose ball on the right wing before slotting a pass to Jakel. The Spartans quickly responded and pulled themselves back into the game, getting a goal in the 73rd minute to make it 2-1. Coe regained momentum and threatened to regain a two-goal lead down the closing minutes of the game, holding Dubuque to just one shot on target in the 87th minute that Jr. Holland saved.
