ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The no. 25 Coe College Football team will face the no. 21 Bethel University Royals tomorrow, Saturday, November 23 at 12 pm in the opening round of the NCAA DIII Football Playoffs. The game, which is set to be broadcast on the
subscription-based ESPN+ platform, is the first meeting in the history of the two schools and Coe's first game against an MIAC program since 2016. Coe is riding a two-game winning streak entering the matchup and coming off the back of securing its second consecutive nine-win season. The Kohawks are in search of win number 10 again after falling short last year in the opening round of the playoffs at Aurora where a turnover-ridden performance cost them. Newly-named A-R-C Offensive MVP
Trenton Barnes will face a stout run defense from the Royals who are ranked as the nation's top run unit. Coe's defensive unit, which boasts seven all-conference players, will face a balanced Bethel attack that ranks seventh in DIII in total scoring. The host Royals are led by Cooper Drews who ranks fourth in DIII in completion percentage, sixth in passing TDs and ninth in passing yards. The Kohawk defense will be tested in the secondary, allowing just over 200 yards per game.
