CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College senior running back Trenton Barnes was named the American Rivers Conference's Offensive MVP in the league's postseason awards release on Friday afternoon. Barnes, the program's first Offensive MVP since 2016, finished the conference season with a league-high 999 yards and 12 total touchdowns. The Kohawks were well represented throughout the rest of the league's awards list as 14 players in total were recognized. Ben Adelsberger, Alex Aitchison and Chase Kruse headlined Coe's first-team defense selections while Nicholas Mattran and Luke Schumacher were named first-team offense with Barnes. The Kohawk defense tallied four second-team selections as Mitchel Helmkamp, LaDainian Linnear, Jay Oostendorp and Sam Shaw were honored. Offensively, Jeron Senters and Noah Theriault were named second-team all-league with Senters being named to the second-team specialist unit. Rounding out the all-conference selections are Braiden Damhoff and Clay Krousie who earned honorable mention status.

Barnes, a senior from Madison, Indiana, was unstoppable during the conference season. The Kohawk bell cow handled 20 or more attempts in all but two conference games and rushed 35 times or more in victories against Dubuque, Central and Buena Vista. He is the first Kohawk running back to record a 1,000-yard season since Trevor Heitland in 2016 and has the 10^th-highest single-season rushing total in school history. Barnes also added 16 catches during the conference season, hauling in a TD pass against the Spartans on Homecoming.
