HOLLAND, Mich. — The Coe College volleyball team had a three-game winning streak snapped Friday evening in a neutral site matchup with no. 8 UW-Eau Claire, falling 3-1 to the Blugolds. The Kohawks opened the match on top with a strong performance against the nationally-ranked opposition, taking the opening set 25-22 behind 16 kills and a .279 attacking percentage. UWE responded with three dominant sets, ripping off three straight wins to secure the victory. The Blugolds held Coe to a negative hitting percentage in the second set and then ended the match with a pair of impressive offensive outputs, hitting .375 and .395 in the final two sets. Coe's offense was led by
Maggie Furlong (14 kills) and
Maddie Harris (10 kills) while
Maddy Maahs had 39 assists. Defensively, Coe had three players hit double-digits digs with Furlong (13),
Elise Blaesing (13) and
Bella Rio (10) hitting the mark.

- Coe opened the first set on top, taking an early lead after a three-point string. The Kohawks extended the advantage later in the set, pushing the lead to five at 14-9. UWEC responded and got back into the set, scoring eight of the next 10 points to go up 18-17. The Kohawks hung tough and ended the set on top with five of the final six points to take the 1-0 lead. UWEC used a huge run midway through the second set to establish momentum, scoring six in a row before ending the set with six of the final nine points. The Blugolds put the hammer down in the final two sets, hitting .375 and .395 to claim the final frames 25-20 and 25-18.
