CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Loras College on Wednesday evening in its final home game of the 2022 season. The Duhaws had a majority of the chances early in the first half and cashed in on their momentum, scoring the lone goal of the match in the 27th minute. The Kohawks went on to create a variety of scoring opportunities in the second half but shot attempts in the 54th and 88th minutes were saved as Loras secured a clean sheet en route to the victory. The loss drops Coe to 2-13-1 overall and 1-6 in the A-R-C while Loras improves to 8-5-1 and 4-1-1 in the league.

- Coe and Loras felt one another out to open the game, trading spells of possession early on. Coe's keeper Max Twight was tested a few times early on, stopping a pair of shots in the 19th and 20th minute to keep things scoreless. The Duhawks found the opener just over five minutes later, using a counter-attacking move to grab a 1-0 lead. Coe continued to press for the final few minutes of the period, holding the majority of the possession but Loras did well to keep the host at bay en route to the halftime lead.
- The Kohawks had their best chance early in the second half when Ian Kearney found Juan Suarez inside the box with a lobbed through ball but a well-hit strike from Suarez was stopped by the keeper. Loras began to sit deeper with its 1-0 lead, allowing Coe to hold possession for a majority of the half. The Kohawks created a few solid chances prior to the final whistle but the Loras defense proved too tough to break down.
Up next: The Kohawks return to pitch for their final game of 2022, heading to Luther College next Tuesday, October 25 at 7:30 PM.
