CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon in the team's 2024 conference opener. The Kohawks conceded a pair of goals inside the opening 13 minutes, allowing the opening goal to be scored from a corner kick before a penalty in the 13th minute. Coe continued to battle with Wartburg, firing a pair of shots on target but the visitors limited the big chances and recorded the clean sheet for the victory.

- Wartburg scored on its first chance of the game, taking the lead on a headed goal from a corner kick in the ninth minute. The Knights doubled their lead moments later, capitalizing on a strong period of play with a goal from the penalty spot. Coe and Wartburg went toe-to-toe for the remaining minutes of the half but the lone shot for the Kohawks came from Ethan Eliaquim Braga Farias, missing the target in the 42nd minute. Coe controlled possession for much of the second half but failed to take advantage, only getting a pair of shots during a flurry of action in the 73rd minute. Jaden Palmer and Dylan Pagel each had shots during the stretch with Pagel's shot being saved to end the chances.
