CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's soccer team suffered a defeat Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, falling 4-1 to the Luther College Norse. The Kohawks conceded an early goal in the first half as Luther took the lead in the 14th minute through a quick-striking team move. Luther and Coe then were scoreless over the next 55-plus minutes until the visitors doubled their lead with another team move that ended in a goal. The Norse scored another goal minutes later to put the game away and added a fourth in the 89th minute.
Isaiah Jakel managed to get Coe on the scoreboard before the end of the match, scoring his second of the season as he pounced on a poor touch from a Norse defender inside the area.

LUTHER 4 - COE 1
- Luther was on top from the opening whistle of the first half, forcing an early save from Jr. Holland. The Norse scored the opening goal minutes later, using a quick moving attack to play a ball into the box before a solid finish in the area. Luther did well with the lead, controlling the possession and tempo for the remainder of the opening half. The Norse put the game away midway through the second half, doubling their lead in the 69th minute on another team move that resulted in a fairly simple finish. An individual effort put the third on the board for Luther as Francesco Mungari picked up the ball on the far sideline before sprinting past the Coe defense and slotting in the corner. Tinashe Manyanga had Coe's first shot on goal later in the half, seeing an attempt saved in the 75th minute as Coe's comeback chances were thwarted. The Norse scored their final goal in the 89th minute, making it 4-0 after a save from Holland rebounded to a Luther attacker. Jakel salvaged a goal for the Kohawks in the final minute of the match, latching on to a poor touch from a Norse defender deep in the penalty area before slotting a first-time shot in the corner.
