ASBURY, Iowa – The Coe College men's golf team finished up a 36-hole tournament hosted by Loras College Monday, with its top team finishing tied for fifth and its second team placing 11th. The top squad was paced by
Lane Pierson and
Tyler Santi, who each finished in a tie for seventh place individually, carding 36-hole scores of 152. Santi, who opened with an 80, and Pierson, who shot a first-round 77, both improved in the second round to jump up the leaderboard. A freshman from Indianola, Santi fired a second-round 72, vaulting 17 places on the leaderboard as he made four birdies en route to the even-par round. Pierson also had multiple birdies in his second round, firing an even-par 36 on the front before sandwiching two birdies on his back nine for a solid 75.
Brady Yergens led Coe's second squad, placing 19th overall with a two-day total of 155. A Crystal Lake, Illinois native, Yergens shot rounds of 78 and 77, totalling six birdies in his 36-holes, the second most in the tournament.
Sam Scully, C. Reece Breitenbach and
Tommy Kulesza rounded out the scoring for the top Kohawk squad, placing T25, T36 and T50 individually.
Jackson Pipho, Mitchell Katz, Caden Weddingfeld and
Brooks Hoffland were the final four players on the second squad, placing T36, T50, 64th and 72nd.
