CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe men's soccer team picked up a non-conference victory on Wednesday evening at Clark Field, defeating the Saint Mary's Cardinals 2-0 with a pair of second-half goals. It was fairly slow in the opening half for both teams, with
William Shaw making five saves in the Kohawk net. The hosts recorded four shots in the period, including an early shot on target inside the first 10 minutes. Coe came to life in the second half, gaining traction before a long-throw in reached
Nolan Loftin for a header to open the scoring in the 49th. The Kohawks stayed on top, adding an insurance goal in the 70th as
Valentin Lobos floated a corner to the back post for another header, this time from
Jonah Lasselle who locked up the victory.

- The first half didn't have much to show for the Kohawks. Both teams would trade shots back and forth early in the first half, but neither team was able to scratch across a goal. The Kohawks would only manage four shots in the first half, one from Jase Havlik, another from Boji Geshev, and two from substitute Talon Sargent. Coe's Shaw would provide most of the stats, as he kept a first-half clean sheet with five saves. The first half would end scoreless. Loftin opened the scoring with a nice header in the 49th, rising above the defenders for a big throw from Lobos, who picked up his first assist of the evening. Lobos connected on another set piece later in the half, sending a corner into the box for Lasselle, who found space and beat the keeper. Saint Mary's failed to register a shot on target for the remaining 20 minutes, getting a few corners but not testing the Kohawk net as Coe secured the clean sheet.
