Brigette Bergemann was an eight-time All-American - and three-time honorable mention All-American during her Coe College swimming career. She was an All-American each of her four years in competition and, as a freshman, was named the team's most valuable swimmer. Usually teamed with Jennifer Gaard, Jamie Whittemore, Marie Strilich or Lynn Pumfrey, Brigette was a member of six All-American relay teams, finishing as high as third in the nation in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 1986. She was a two-time All-American in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing fifth in the nation in 1987. Brigette set 10 Coe women's swimming records, five individual marks and five on relay teams. Thirteen years later, seven of those records still stand. For the past eight years, Brigette has worked for Publications International of Lincolnwood, Ill. She is currently director of publishing services after holding previous positions as business manager and international business manager, traveling to 10 countries outside the U.S. for business. Brigette lives in her hometown of Racine, Wisconsin. For her outstanding contributions to Coe College athletics, we are privileged to welcome Brigette Bergemann to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
