Harry H. Green played tackle on Coe College's 1933, 1934, and 1935 championship football teams and was described by Coach Moray Eby as one of the best he ever coached at Coe. During those championship years Coe's schedule included the likes of the University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin, and Army. In 1934 and 1935 he performed well enough to receive All-State honors. His selection was especially noteworthy because players from all Iowa colleges and universities were considered at that time. All-State honors were not new to Harry Green because he had received similar recognition as a high school player.
National sports magazines designated Harry H. Green as one of the Midwest's outstanding tackles in 1934 and 1935 and his abilities were recognized even further when he was asked to perform as a "key demonstrator" for two national coaching schools.
Harry H. Green received his degree in 1935, graduating as one of six selected as Representative Seniors, individuals chosen for their "outstanding personal qualities" and their contributions to Coe.
After college, Harry H. Green became a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he earned additional praise for his athletic ability, versatility, enthusiasm, leadership, and general capability. He made a tremendous contribution to the school in addition to building fine football and basketball teams.
Harry H. Green left teaching and coaching in 1941 for a career in electrical engineering with a number of companies. For over 20 years he was a supervisor in the Cedar Rapids Traffic Engineering Department and had served as manager of a firm specializing in the movement of people and goods.
