Looking back at Jean Pregler Biermann’s volleyball career at Coe, she has every reason to be proud. She was selected to the All-Midwest Conference South Division First Team in both 1985 and 1987, with an honorable mention in 1986. To round out her senior season, she was voted the team MVP and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team and CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team.

In the 70 games Jean played as a Kohawk, she delivered an impressive performance. Her then-school records included attack percentage (.384), kills per game (3.71), digs per game (4.7) and points per game (4.14). These records have held up well to the test of time, with Jean still ranking in the top ten in each category.

While volleyball was a large part of her four years at Coe, Jean was busy off the court as well. She was a member of Student Senate and Women’s Chorale, studied abroad in Costa Rica her senior year, and won awards for biology research and Spanish. After taking advantage of the many great opportunities Coe had to offer, she graduated magna cum laude with majors in biology, physical education, and Spanish.
