When Carla Gibney Davidson started playing softball for Coe her freshman year, she made a big impact right off the bat. In both her freshman and sophomore seasons, she helped the Kohawk softball team win the Midwest Conference Championship. She was also selected to the All-Midwest Conference First Team three years in a row.
In her collegiate softball career, Carla had 321 at-bats and scored 63 runs. She had 39 walks, ranking twelfth in school history. During her sophomore season she had 10 sacrifice hits, a single-season school record at the time. She held the record for career sacrifice hits with 25, and even today still ranks eleventh in that category. Carla also played basketball in the 1984-85 season, appearing in five games during that campaign.
In her studies at Coe, Carla majored in English and elementary education with a minor in physical education. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Teaching from Coe in 1999.
