Hall of Fame
Kevin Welu, class of 1986, was a six-time individual conference champion and one of the best pole vaulters in Coe Track & Field history. Welu nearly broke the school record in his freshman season with a personal-best leap of 15'0 and, later in his career, set the school record in the indoor pole vault by clearing 14'10.5. His Kohawk career was highlighted by an individual All-American performance in 1985, placing sixth at the national meet. Welu still ranks second all-time in the indoor pole vault and third in the outdoor pole vault and helped the Kohawk men to three indoor Midwest Conference Championships and two outdoor Midwest Conference Championships.Â
