One of the most exclusive recognitions that marks a Coe football player as distinctive comes with selection to Moray Eby's all-time team. Coach Eby chose eleven of the best men that played for him at each position. Kenneth Allen, Class of 1931, was picked by the legendary coach as the center on that team, the best center that ever played for him, Ken Allen won four letters in football at Coe as well as four more in basketball and one in track. His skills were well remembered by sports- writers and opposition coaches as he was named All-conference and All-state center for 3 years. His name appeared on the Honorable mention list for Little All-American honors in 1930. In addition to snapping the ball from center, Mr. Allen was the placekicker on points after touchdown and field goal attempts. His defensive play also won significant praise. In the 1930 season, a year when Coe scored 105 points to the opposition's meager 9 points, the Coe Acorn recorded that Allen twice tackled Knox runners when it appeared they were on their way to the winning touchdown. Kenneth Allen played on Coe teams that won not only a regional reputation but a national one in football. As a significant participant in those well-remembered days of Coe sports and in recognition of the individual skill and determination he brought to his position, it is fitting that Kenneth Allen be named a member of the Coe Athletic Hall of Fame. We offer our congratulations and best wishes on this induction.
