George R. Dyche loved wrestling and he has been involved with the sport from student days up to the present. At Coe he won the Midwest Conference wrestling championship his junior year and placed second in his weight as a sophomore and senior. Twice he participated at the NCAA College Division National Wrestling Tournament, and as a sophomore placed fourth in the nationals. He was selected as Outstanding Sophomore by Amateur Wrestling News and he was named an All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, Coe's first ever wrestling All-American.
At Coe he also played football and was coach of the freshman baseball
team.
For 24 years George was head wrestling coach in high schools at Rochelle, Illinois, and Aurora, Illinois, with a career coaching record of 271 wins, 151 losses, and 12 ties. George has been president of the Illinois Coaches Association and at West Aurora High School he has been the social studies department chair from 1976 to the present.
He has been a bench official for the Midlands Wrestling Tournament for 19 years and the head bench official for five years.
