From her arrival at Coe in the fall of 1982 after graduating from Norway High School, Nancy Kahle Netolicky was a dominant force for the Kohawk softball team. She was a four-time all-Midwest Conference player for a four-time Midwest Conference softball championship team. After being named Coe's most valuable offensive player and all-conference designated hitter her freshman year, she collected three consecutive all-conference honors as pitcher, including twice as the only unanimous selection. She was Coe's MVP her sophomore year, when she was also named second-team all-West Region. After taking the loss to St. Norbert in the opening game of the conference tournament that year, Nancy was the pitcher of record in two of four straight victories as the Kohawks fought their way back to the championship. In the 12th inning of the championship game against Monmouth, I came out to see if she needed to be pulled. "I'll come off when I win this," she said, before getting a Monmouth batter to pop up and end the inning with a runner on third base. In the 13th inning, she helped her own cause with a game-winning double. That was Nancy in a nutshell. When the chips were down, she was tougher than nails. She never expected more out of other people than she did of herself. Nancy and her catcher, Theresia Pallischeck, could be found at 7 a.m. in Eby Fieldhouse during the offseason, working on pitching techniques. Nancy also worked two off-campus jobs, along with being an honor student. Nancy was also the team's MVP her senior year. In addition to a 14-3 record, she set a school record of four saves, which currently is third in Coe softball history. Her 42-15 career pitching record was limited only by the fact that we played a 26-game regular season schedule back then. Her 1.14 career ERA still stands as fourth-best all time. She also remains among the all-time leaders in RBIs with 61 and runs scored with 67. Nancy also played basketball her freshman and sophomore years. After graduating from Coe with degrees in business administration and speech, Nancy went on to receive her degree in chiropractic medicine from Cleveland College in Kansas City. Nancy has operated a successful chiropractic practice in Cedar Rapids since 1999. She and her husband, Doug, have two children, Carlee and Tyler. For her outstanding contributions to Kohawk athletics, I am honored to present Nancy Kahle Netolicky for induction into the Coe College Athletic Hall of Fame.
