It's no exaggeration to say Guy Simons wrote the book on Coe football. His senior J-Term project the "History of Coe College Football'- still serves the college as an informational resource. As a three-time academic and all-conference quarterback, the New Hartford native contributed to the Kohawk football tradition on the field as well. Guy set seven records-pass completion percentage, touchdown passes and total offense for the 1993 season and career marks tor touchdown passes, plays, yards and average gain per play-while leading two conference championship teams to the NCAA Division III playoffs and posting Coe's first 10-0 record. He was 27-4 over three years as Coe's starting quarterback. As a junior in 1992, Guy was sixth in the nation for passing efficiency for the most prolific scoring offense in the country. He was third in passing efficiency as a senior, directing a Coe offense that was second nationally with per game averages of 546 total yards and 48 points. He was named special mention all-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette and shared team MVP honors with Carey Bender. Guy remains Coe's career leader in touchdown passes with 56. His five touchdown performance against William Penn in 1992 was the school record until 2005. Homecoming King and Outstanding Senior Man were among Guy's honors before graduating cum laude in Communications. Today he is a national accounts manager at CRST in Cedar Rapids. Married with two children, he has remained active in sports by umpiring, serving as commissioner of the Hiawatha Little League, and running marathons. For his outstanding contributions to Kohawk athletics, I am honored to present Guy Simons tor induction into the Coe College Athletic Hall of Fame.
