Hall of Fame
Hartford native Shawn Hall is one of only four two-time All-Americans in Coe wrestling history. He won three Midwest Conference championships at 142 pounds and finished fifth as a sophomore and sixth as a junior at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Tournament. Shawn was Coe's most-valuable wrestler three times and twice served as team captain. As a freshman, he received the Most Dedicated Wrestler Award. Off the mat, Shawn served as president of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, vice president of the Interfraternity Council, and resident assistant while at Coe. After graduating in 1983, Shawn served as head wrestling, cross country, and girls track coach for nine years at Saydel High School in Des Moines, where he coached numerous wrestlers and the boy's cross country team to state competition. He was also an assistant coach on the Junior National Greco Roman/Freestyle wrestling teams for five years. Shawn was head wrestling coach at Carlisle High School in 1994-95 before graduating from the FBI Academy, where he received an Outstanding Physical Achievement Award. He now serves as an FBI agent out of Newark, New Jersey. He is currently overseeing the Criminal Intelligence Drug Program and serves on the Evidence Response Team, conducting forensic processing of crime scenes, including the Egypt Air crash of 1999 and, most recently, the World Trade Center tragedies. Shawn runs a year-round, K-12, private wrestling club in northwest New Jersey, coaching about 40 wrestlers per week from a three-county area. He also assists as a technical instructor for a local school's wrestling program. For his outstanding contributions to Coe College athletics, we are privileged to welcome Shawn Hall to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
