Bryce Berkompas, the school record holder in the javelin, finished second in the event at the 2000 and 2001 NCAA Championships, earning all-American status. He is one of nine multi-all-American honorees in Coe's Outdoor Track & Field history. Bryce's conference record toss of 67.71m in the javelin is the second oldest record in conference history, dating back over 20 years. In 2001, Berkompas finished sixth in the University and College Division at the Drake Relays in a field full of the top athletes representing all three NCAA Divisions from across the country.
