Lou Knudtson came to Coe College from Taft High School in Chicago. During his four-year football career he established himself as one of the college's premier, all-time pass receivers. Lou won three letters on Coe teams that had an overall record of 25-7. He was the leading pass receiver in his sophomore, junior and senior years. His senior year was highlighted by an undefeated season. In the opening game, a 22-13 victory over a strong Ripon team, he scored twice on 56- and 47-yard pass receptions to assure the win. His reception in the Cornell game later that year was a key to obtaining field position for the only score in a 6-0 win. That 1959 game rates as a Coe-Cornell Classic. Knudtson was named 1st team, All Midwest Conference and honorable mention Little All-American both his junior and senior years. After graduation he signed a professional contract with the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League, soon to become the St. Louis Cardinals. He has remained active in sports, having coached a junior high team in Park Ridge, Illinois, for six years, winning two league championships. He was president and owner of the Chicago Storm, a professional softball team and general partner in the Minnesota Fillies Women's Professional Basketball League team. Lou is currently president of L-Tec, Inc., manufacturers' representative in the electronic industry and is an owner in Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Institute, a company that manufactures orthopedic rehabilitation and exercise products. It is a privilege for me to present Lou Knudtson, one of the premier athletes on some of Coe's best football teams, for induction into the Coe Athletic Hall of Fame.
