James J. Bruck is head wrestling coach at the high school from which he graduated in Harlan, Iowa. He earned his way to that position by being one of Coe's outstanding wrestlers, one of the best in the history of Coe wrestling competition. Jim won three consecutive Midwest Conference individual championships at 167 pounds on a Coe team that won three consecutive Midwest Conference team championships. As a senior in the Conference Meet, he scored a first-round pin in 26 seconds, and in the second round he scored a pin in 111 seconds. He defeated his Cornell rival for the title 13-2. He was named the Outstanding Wrestler in the Conference and the Most Valuable Wrestler on the Coe team. In the NCAA Division III national wrestling tournament held at Coe Jim won All-American status with a third-place finish. Jim coached and taught at Williamsburg, Iowa High School for nine years before returning to Harlan, where he also teaches elementary physical education. As a wrestler who won recognition both at the conference level and the national level, Jim Bruck has been deemed worthy of membership in the Kohawk Athletic Hall of Fame.
