When Casimer A. Passalino came to Coe College much was expected of him because he had been elected the most athletic member of his high school class at Karl Schurz High School in Chicago. Cas Passalino lived up to his advance billing. As a freshman at Coe he earned a place on the varsity football squad and won the first of his four letters. As a sophomore Cas gained attention with such exploits as a 95-yard opening kickoff return against Monmouth. In Coe's 28-26 win that day he scored three of the Kohawks' four touchdowns. Still a sophomore, he scored two touchdowns in the championship game against Lawrence and won the first of his three All-Conference mentions. Passalino was Coe's leading rusher in his sophomore and junior years. In his senior year he was hampered by injuries much of the season. But he averaged more than eight yards per carry when he was able to play, the best average in his four years. Cas also earned letters in track and ran in events, including the Drake Relays. He earned his doctor's degree in dentistry from Loyola University Dental School and is currently practicing dentistry in Waukegan, Illinois. As one of Coe's most colorful and competitive athletes, it is appropriate that Dr. Casimer Passalino be inducted into the Coe Athletic Hall of Fame on this occasion.
