Roger Schlegel spent nearly ten years as a coach of three different sports at Coe, including baseball, football and track & field. Schlegel served as the head baseball coach from 1972-1977, compiling a record of 98-53 while leading the Kohawks to two NCAA regional appearances. In 1974 his team won the Midwest Conference Championship and in 1975 he was named the NCAA District Coach of the Year. Roger was the head football coach for the Kohawks from 1979-1981 after serving as an assistant coach on numerous conference championship teams. During his time as head coach, Schlegel's team set the NCAA single-game record for rushing yards. He also acted as the head coach of the track & field team from 1980-1982, leading the team to three consecutive Midwest Conference outdoor championships and two indoor championships.
