After a solid freshman football season, Shane went on to earn First Team All-Conference in baseball after an impressive year on the pitcher's mound. Staker totaled seven complete games, 61 strikeouts, 70.0 innings pitched and six wins, numbers that still rank inside the top-20 today. During his sophomore baseball season, he earned Second Team All-Conference, recording 64 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.16 while averaging 10.29 strikeouts per nine innings which all rank inside the top-20 at Coe.
Staker broke out on the football field his junior year, being named First-Team All-Conference after an impressive year as the Kohawk punter. He broke into the top-10 list in total punting yards and total punts while moving into the top-20 for yards per punt. Staker continued to dominate on the mound his junior year, earning First Team All-Conference while recording seven complete games and two saves. Staker again earned All-Conference honors during his senior football season for his excellent punting performance but he also added 19 receptions, 316 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
